Default AST 4100 Dampers

I am deciding on a set of shocks to get in the near future and I am highly considering getting the AST 4150's (about to be released). Is anyone running the 4100's? I am basically looking at this lineup of shocks because they are monotube, single adjustable, have aluminum components unlike the KW clubsports which use SS, can be rebuilt into a two way adjustable shock at a later date, AST is located only 2 hours away from me, and they are seemingly high quality (they're owned by Moton) without the price tag of the Ohlins DFV's. I am looking for a healthy balance between a track and autocross setup because I autocross about once a month and am going to track my S 2-4 times a year. I am wanting to go with a single adjustable at first so I can learn with these and move on to doubles later on and not be overwhelmed by the adjustability. Let me know if you have any experience with AST! Or if you have some friendly advice, I'm all ears

There's a car running AST's in the continental challenge or something like that and they were talking about them and it wasn't very good, the complaint was that they're seizing when they warm up.

I doubt it happens on track days though.

AST makes great shocks. Up their with moton/JRZ/Penske/etc for sure.

$2200 for the new 4150's not including springs. That brings up another question, which springs are better, hyperco or swift? Those are the two brands that the dealer carries

Per the website, the 4100 start at 1999 and the 5100 start at 3000. Not sure where the 4150 will price out at. The 4100's are not convertible, but the 5100's are. The 4150's are supposedly convertible. AST is in Plano, TX, where I live. Easy to have them rebuilt as well. Vorshlag in Plano is a distributor and will hook you up with springs and top hats if you want.

Yeah, Vorshlag is who I've been talking to about the 4150's. They confirmed that the 4150's are fully convertible and that they would be $2200 for the S2000 application. They also said that rebuilding costs $140 per corner and converting is the difference in price between the two units + additional labor.

Don't know yet. I'm waiting to here back from them on the springs, and vorshlag said you can use the oem top hats or buy their custom spherical top hats.
