AP2 engine (2.2L) with AP1 transmission COMBO

Torque... shorter 1-4 = off the line quicker.
Longer 5-6 gears = better freeway RPMs
IIRC, they put the 2.2 to solve the complaints of the 2.0. Add the shorter gearing and it will be quicker down low.

whichever trani you use just make sure you get rid of that 23lb ap2 flywheel omg is that thing heavy. Use at least an AP1 flywheel or lighter to help the rev's.

Why is the Ap1 tranny better at all? Isn't the ap2 tranny better for any motor because of the shorter 1-4?

hmm i have the opposite Ap2 trans and diff with Ap1 motor, my car is ALOT faster than with the 2.2 maybe if you rev the 2.2 to 9k it would be a diff story but reving the 9k and 8k there is NO comparisson for me I instantly walk as soon as we shift with other ap2s and ap1s

2.2L with AP2 trans and 4.77's I'm hard core and 8lb flywheel, I walk comptech car with 4.44's and greddy 70mm in 4th gear
3000 ft straightaway I hit 122-125mph, sorry my speedo is still off hehe, fixing that when I get the time. 4700rpm cruising on the highway, not that bad IMO. Thinking of 4.44's but will build another diff and have two but that costs a lotta $$$
