Default AP1 or AP2 for DD/Track days/S2K time attack car

Hey all, I'm currently looking at picking up an s2000 to serve as a daily/track rat. I've been reading a bit about these cars, seen plenty of them and their happy drivers at the tracks, and I think this may be a good, cost effective route for me to go.

So I'm thinking about running in the stock class, and then possibly the street class. I can save a few bucks by going with an AP1, but I'm not sure if the AP2 is sporting the exact same suspension or if their were tweaks for the new engine.

If you have any reasoning as to why one would be better than the other, state it here.

NOTE: I don't want an AP1 vs AP2 war breaking out, I'm simply seeking to gain knowledge so I know which car to go for.

Cheers! Looking forward to getting to know some of you better, and hopefully racing against a few of you before too long!

-Mark

which can you afford outright? tracking a car you're making payments can be a little uneasy - at least for me.

Either one, though I will still probably finance as I would be using more of my savings than I like to all at once.

Ap1. Don't buy a car to race that your making payments on. I want a CR so bad but until I save the money to pay cash for the difference I'll rock my ap1

go ap1 cuz if you were to go off track you'll find more part outs for ap1's than ap2. If you can get a low mile ap1 you can stay safe and inexpensive. Then once the modding bug hits....you havent given all your money to the bank. Cheers man

Keep in mind tacit is just time attack. So basically track day consumables and a few times laps. Surely plenty of people do trackday in cars that aren't completely paid off! Though if I got a higher mileage ap1 I cold just pay cash.
Thank you for info guys. Keep it coming!

timed usually = no insurance coverage, so you're taking your chances. You can't go wrong with either one, we're just trying to warn you.

I'd recommend a later AP1 or a 06+ AP2.

I'm assuming you're in socal? I personally believe the majority of our tracks favor the AP1, strictly because of gearing, and no other reason; this is a debated topic. However, the AP2 generally is a little easier to DD.
