For the lazy...
Moving to AS: Honda S2000 ('00-'03), Porsche Boxster (non-S), BMW Z4
Moving to ES: Mazda Miata ('94-'97), BMW Z3 (4-cylinder)
I don't necessarily agree with the move of the B Stock cars to A Stock, but I do respect the decision. B Stock will be VERY interesting next year. A Stock should be a lot of fun, too!

Yup, agreed with Andy. There's going to be a lot of disagreement over what cars are the cars to have in both AS and BS next year. This should make things interesting as people show up to gunfights with all manner of guns, knives, and atomic weapons without necessarily knowing in advance which of the three they've brought.

No big debate in my mind (having driven all cars involved) as to the car to have for AS... it's going to be the '05 BoxsterS with 280hp. That car will simply smoke all others involved. Be afraid of that one. As for BS, it's a toss up as I don't know much about the RX8's potential... but it seems the 350z, RX, and 968 are the three top contenders. Wouldn't it be funny if BS is going as fast as AS after a little while? Can I say 'I told y'all so" if that happens?
But, if nobody ponies up $60k for their new autocross car, it should be a good fight among the S2000's and Vette's if any of either show up.
Now, the debate goes back to '00-'03 S2000 or '04? Hmmmm!

I am deployed and have not seen my fasttrack. Are there any restirictions to the ES 94-97 Miata spec. non-R?
Moving the Miata's as controversial a decision as moving the S2000 in other forums; personally I think it was the right thing to do.

So of those at Nats this year, who is jumping ship, who is going to fight it out no matter what, and who is going to wait a while and see how things go?

It's not inconceivable that the 2006 Boxster S will go to SS. Unlikely, but not inconceivable -- the new Boxster S will probably be a match for the early 996s, which are in SS. Moving the new Boxster S to SS would be consistent with the decision to move the base Boxster and Z4 to AS; all three moves would be intended to keep a car from potentially dominating its far more inexpensive competition.
