4.57-R gear whine after Streets of Willow
I had a the Richmond 4.57-R gears installed about 1500 miles ago, with very little whine. After an HPDE at the Streets of Willow a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that it really started whining (quite noticeable at low speeds). There's also this gear smell coming from somewhere, but not sure if it is related.
I called the installer (Ramjet), and he dismissed as "something that eventually happens to all the Richmond gears, you need a new gear, blah.." - I just wanted to have it checked (even paying), but he was so dismissive I gave up.
Should I have it checked? I was thinking of bringing-it to Tony Fuchs (Los Angeles, in the valley).

First check for a leak; if you find one don't drive it anymore; have it towed to a rear end shop. If no leak, swap out the diff fluid with something that can withstand track use, like LE607 or Redline Shockproof Heavy.
While you're checking for leaks, look for one at the tranny.
