thought id chime in with a conversation I just had with greg regarding the bumper beams and the chassis cross beams.
A statement from greg to clear up some chassis rules, the front and rear beam they speak of that cant be altered is the beams about 2 feet into the chassis above the rear sway bar and behind the radiator. The “crash” bumpers can be altered but they insist you keep some kind of bumper protection.
Statement from greg.
“In your case, it does appear that the rear cross beam circled is more applicable to the rule, as the bumper beam looks like more of an add-on piece not integral to the frame. We do want you to keep the rear bumper beam as well for crash protection, but it should be OK to add the spacing.”
I assume this is why ive seen people hole saw the bumpers for weight savings.
