I am stretching a 255/40/17 RA1 on a 17X9.5 wheel and it works pretty well. I'm also interested to know how the 275's would fit. I would personally stick with 255 if the wheel is only 17X9.

I run 275's on my 18x9 front wheels, no problem. Not even a "stuffing".

Fenders will rub unless they are rolled. They rub even with the 235/275 RA1's on CE28N's, though not badly but the front liners for sure. Careful the metal tab for the front liners doesn't cut the tire. Possibly okay if you are running very stiff suspension and at least -3* camber, but I doubt it. Let us know how they fit and work.
I have 255/40/17 with 4 OEM rear 17 x 8.5J +65 on my 100% stock S2000, but they never rub

now also running non-staggered 245/40/17 with 17 x 9J +55, very minimal rubbing on the sidewalls only, mostly happens on canyon runs

There are many variables listed above including Rims/Offsets/Rubber Manufacturer...

So, for a noob with (3) track days using AP2 rims....

Is 235-45-17 Front / 255-40-17 Rear Toyo RA-1 as Balanced as factory or is there a better combination for track days?

Oh, I have a Comptech adjustable swaybay still in box. If this alters the Toyo RA-1 selection, please let me know...

Thanks for the help...

Nope I had them on my car and they didn't rub they were just wide as hell. I took them on the track and was really disappointed. I didn't have my car lowered so with 275's in the rear and 245's in the front My car looked like a top fuel dragster. Needless to say all the weight of the car was transfered to the front and my perfect 50/50 handling that the s2000 is famous for was gone. Waste of time, money, and rubber. Unless you are lowered that setup will be a disaster. I suggest lowering your car and running stock rims and tires you will get faster times.

SD-IMPORTS:

What kind od suspension were you running? 235/255 has shown some good times......245/275 I would think more rubber the faster?!?!

Ry, offset of CE28N's are different and not optimal like yours. Poster has CE28N/s.

Uhm the question was about stretching the tire not rubbing granted I used the wrong word in my reply.

is there a point where too much rubber becomes a negative?

So you think that 245 on a 17 x7 1/2 ce28n is gonna not clear the front fenders even if I roll the tabs?
