the bridgestones do seem to be wearing much quicker than the hankooks, if that's an issue to you.
Putting the order in for the RE-01R's tomorrow, found the front 2 RS2's are severely corded so that car stays in the garage for now.

The RE-01R is an amazing tire IMO, it is similar to the Azenis in dry traction (almost an R) but much better in the wet.
Great street tire. $360 for 4 tires? Geez that's less than I paid for a set of T1R's

Tire Rack has those prices, the rebate is for members of certain car clubs. Check www.potenza.com for the rebate info.

It's basically 460+40 shipping so 500 and then you get a 100 mail in rebate. It applies to BMWCCA, SCCA, PCA, and a few other clubs. You can get a BMWCCA membership for 40/year and you get a pretty cool magazine. I used to drive a M3 and still autocross with that club anyways so it was worth it to me.

There's a lot more to grip than outright "tread width". Not to mention that "tread width" measurements published are necessarily somewhat arbitrarily defined.
My money's on 205/225 RE01R's over 225/245 RS2's for autoX performance.
BTW I have RS2's (205/245) on my car for the street.
Have you considered 225/50-16 RE01R's all around? With a stiffer front bar, that might be the way to go (though it probably looks goofy).

I run the 205/55 and 245/45 setup with the RS-2s on the street, and I love them. I find it interesting how people talk about their so called soft sidewall, I have found them to be a fantastic street tire, but then again I may be running more pressure in them than others.

I dont mean to thread jack here, but I am interested in this topic because I am debating between the 2 myself. I am interested in doing DE's - not autocross (we got A6's for that) and wondered if anyone has the experience on either at the track?
I am wanting to do this on a budget so I will mount them on AP1's Forgive me for asking but does the 225 RE01R for the rear actualy measure out closer to 245 like the old S02's? Are there any other affordable track worthy w-rated tires that fit AP1's that I am missing?

The 225 S02 has a tread width of 8.5", while the RE-01r has a tread of 8.3". They are almost exactly the same. The RE's have a 0.5" wider contact patch on the 205's than the S02.
