2010 S2K Challenge Series #5 - WSIR - 6/13/10
Our fifth 2010 S2K Challenge event was held on June 13, 2010 at "Big Willow" at Willow Springs International Raceway (WSIR). Despite the desert heat, a strong contingent of S2K drivers attended, all eager to put their driving skills to the test!
Weather: Despite a high of 90F, performance was not as adversely impacted as was expected, when compared to the SK2C #2 when temperatures were much cooler.
Speedventures ran a dedicated S2K Challenge Time Trial Session at the end of the day. A special thanks to the Series's newest sponsor, AQ Motorsports who donated CASH prizes to all of the classes!
Stock Class
Charles Ng, who was DQ'd at SK2C #2, placed 1st and once again set the bar for what a stock S2000 can achieve, with a 1:37.1. Congratulations to Richard Seegman (2nd) and Travis Wong (3rd) for their podium finishes, with respective lap times of 1:42.0 and 1:44.3!
1st Place received $50 dollars from AQ Motorsports and a full fluid swap (engine, tranny, and diff) from Rising Star Motorsports. 2nd and 3rd places received Speedventures gift certificates.
Street Class
Congratulations to Ben Rigaud's FIRST 1st place finish with a blazing 1:35.4...you could see his smile from a mile away! Joel Perez once again nonchalantly showed up late for the event, did a couple practice sessions, and came in second with his personal best, 1:37.2. Fil Craciun was near half a second off Joe's pace with a 1:37.8.
1st Place received $50 dollars from AQ Motorsports and a free alignment from Evasive Motorsports. 2nd and 3rd places received Speedventures gift certificates.
Modified Class
The times in Mod Class were extremely competitive with 2.5 seconds separating the entire pack. Mark Tsai squeaked by and placed 1st with a blazing 1:32.5. Mike Tsay (who set a Mod Class record during practice with a 1:31.X), came in 2nd with a 1:32.6. Jim Tway, who was battling a sinus infection, toughed it out for a 3rd place finish (1:33.2).
1st Place received $100 dollars from AQ Motorsports and a free oil change from Tony Fuchs Racing. 2nd and 3rd places received Speedventures gift certificates.
Unlimited Class
As part of AQ Motorsports's desire to see more unlimited class cars in the Series, they generously donated a $300 cash prize for the 1st place finisher. Casey Dennis (who did a 1:36.6), was our only participant and thus winner of the cash prize! AQ Motorsports has essentially thrown down the gauntlet and is openly challenging other unlimited participants to go up against their mighty S2K (which had engine problems and thus could not participate this round). They will be at the ACS event on 8/15, so please help spread the word to all unlimited class cars!
Class Standings
Special thanks to Sharon Tsay for the pics!
Hope to see you all at our next event at Laguna Seca on July 10, 2010...cheers!

I still remember the last two times that you got me during TT =.="
This round I finally switched to r-comp but I am still getting my ass kicked badly
So no more track for me until August... time to put in new rims, hardtop, roll bar, and harness so my 2750lbs cow can lose some weight =)
Mean while I will do some drifting to ease my addiction to sliding at speed =p
See ya'll @ ACS on my birhtday this yr wahahahahaha

During the TA my stock silver ap1 was gridded behind an sti and in front of a black Legacy. On my cooldown lap I cruised at about 60 mph but another silver s2000 caught up to me. I was confused if i was holding him up.
Was anybody held up by my silver s2000?
