Had a good time at ACS. Fil and Ben really gave me a run for the money, especially Fil. It's amazing how slim the gap was at the end! It appears Fil and Ben are really closing the gap!
My setup:
17x10 +52 949Racing Wheels
255/40R17 Nitto NT05
J's 70RR Ti Exhaust
APR GTC-200 Wing with 2.5" Risers
I didn't have time to get tires in time for this event, so I had to borrow Ed's wheels/tires. At first, I was using his daily driver setup: AP2 wheels with 6-year old RE01R tires. I was quite surprised at how bad these tires are. I don't know if it's because they're super old, or because I've gotten accustomed to Z1 Star Specs. My first session was cut short because I went off track twice in the first session . Then during my second session, I was able to put down a respectable time of 1:59.6 on the RE01R. After that session, I found out that Fil had broken into the 1:59's as well! In a cheating bastard move, I then swapped wheels/tires and used Ed's RTA setup: 949Racing wheels with NT05. The grip levels were significantly higher (though I was disappointed at how fast they lost grip with heat), but still did not feel as good as the Z1's. Unfortunately, the car was much slower because of 1) much higher track temps and 2) a big gaping hole in my exhaust from my O2 sensor blowing out. I was able to manage a 1:59.4, with Fil only 0.1 sec behind. Ben also did a very good laptime, and I found out that he had his wife in the passenger seat! I was at least a second faster without passenger, so if Ben didn't have the extra weight, I'm pretty sure he could have gotten 1st place. All in all, great competition and driving!
Hopefully, I will be able to make it to most of the next four events and fight for the title!

Passing a Ferrari...just another day at the track
Tkx for the kind words Nam, you're still the Champ, but we're seriously gunning for you. I sincerely hope to see you at ALL the last events!

As an ex- NT05 user I can attest that he's right...anything over 35 makes that center tread block wear really fast...learned that the hard way
Nam, now that I'm running Z1's, what pressure should I be at??
