Default 17x9+45 235/40Front 255/40Rear / Stock Suspension

So my S2000 is my DD in the summer and I plan to take it to the track maybe 3 times a summer (I am a beginner). I know the 235/40 is not ideal for the 9" wheel but it will fit, i figured it had to be better than the 225/45 on a 9" and even better than the stock 215/45 on the 7.5". I am on the stock suspension right now and if i did ever plan on going any lower it would be about 1". I know i will have to roll my rear fenders and relocate the bumper tab as well as trim or move the fender liner in the front. Do you think i will need to pull the front fenders to make the 235/40 work? If i was more serious about tracking the car i would have went with a 8" or 8.5" wheel up front but since this is mainly a DD i have a 9" because it looks better IMO (RPF1) So the 235/40 isn't totally stupid for the front right lol? Any info you can give would be great!

I would just run 255 front and rear so that the wheels/tires can be easily rotated.

Yes i understand you would be able to rotate but that doesn't really help with my question What would you have to do to the front fender to run that??

I don't know man, +45's make it tough. If you have not already bought them I would seriously reconsider.

I'm sure the 235 would work up front if you had rolled fenders and some camber, the rear might rub with the 255's even with camber and a roll. This is talking stock suspension...as soon as you lower it you are going to have all kinds of nightmares trying to make it work for the sake of an offset and you would need to pull the fenders for sure. Not worth it IMO, I made the +45 mistake myself and ended up selling them.

I understand they can be made to work, but if your talking track/autocross I would stay away from them.

I run RPF1 17x9 +45s and they work well with -3 camber all around, 1 inch lowered, rolled fenders (not pulled), and rear fender tab relocated. But I think you'll have problems even with 235's up front with the stock suspension and -2 camber (max stock).

Man its crazy how the info in this thread is so much different compared to the wheel and tire thread..

So robrob,
What tires are you running on your setup? If i bought the eibach pro kit do you think that would give me enough camber to be safe with a 235 and 255?

I'm running 255 Nitto NT01s all around. Bottom line is I don't know how this will fit with a stock suspension, I never tried running that way. You might be getting better advice on the street oriented wheel and tire forum.

Having said that here is my opinion: lowering the car won't help with the fitment, but more camber (around -3 front and rear, which requires suspension modification and is probably too much for street wear) will help tuck the top of the tires into the wheel well.

Thanks for you opinion Rob,
I think i will be changing my setup to 17x8+45 and 17x9+45 as i am more concerend wit the front. I wont have the concave look in the front i want but the function of the car is far more important to me.

So your setup is strickly track? You do not street drive your s2k?
