Default Wrap a coated header?

So I got the berk header and I was thinking about wrapping it with dei heat wrap and silicone sealing it. I know it's coated supposedly inside and out. I was wondering how much difference it would make. What do you guys think?

If its coated with anything Do Not Wrap it, the heat will destroy the coating.

Really? I thought for sure it would help dissipate heat under the hood moreso. Isn't the coating good to a certain temperature? One that wouldn't be raised over that amount just by wrapping?

Well what the coating and wrapping do is keep the heat inside the piping. What he ment was that the extra ammount of heat kept inside the piping by the DEI wrap will go beyond what most coatings can handle. I can attest to this on my old d/c sports header on a b-series that i wrapped, after a few years i took the wrapping off to redo it and it was rusty and pitted.

i saw somewhere, and i cannot find the article now, that some shop used a high temp primer on the header before they applied the heat wrap to keep the header from cracking, rusting and generally degrading under the wrap. I dont know what this would do but i have also seen alot of people wrap the DC ceramic headers

There is a reason why BERK. A company that has done countless hours of testing, R&D and racing time has not wrapped their headers. You dont wrap headers because it will crack the header eventually. Please do not do this and just heat coat it. Try lightening motorsports coatings.

Actually, this is because the wrapping holds in lots of moisture. Wrapping can be fine if its not for a long period, but ive seen a number of cars have cranking issues. Its not 100% sure that its the wrapping, but ive seen much less (using same headers/manifolds) with only coating having cracks.

Coating is enough, dont bother wrapping it.
