Default vafc question

-- i have been hearing, from more than 1 tuner, that the vafc's out there (notably the apexi's) will only fool the honda ecu for so long, and eventually you need a retune as the honda ecu relearns the "correct settings"(whatever that means) - does anyone know if that is a valid statement, and care to explain it ?

its true but you can always reset the ecu every 2 weeks or so (pull a fuse and thats it)

its cuz the ecu takes the settings on the vafc as if they were real world conditions and compensates for any adding or removing of fuel in order to take it back to stock.

its either tune for WOT settings only or reset ecu every so often.

(WOT is wide open throttle)

It's fine for WOT, but you can't use them for part throttle.

I have seen people run a switch to the ECU fuse to make it easy, also is a good theft deterrent.

here is the old VAFC tuning thread VAFC everything you don't know yet
