they only good way to test a part is to have the car fully tuned, then change the part then fully tune again.

It's important to see what differences parts make with different combo's as well, but changing more than one part at a time for a comparison isnt really a good way to do things

but isn't this was IP did with testing their manifold? They tuned the car with an EMS, then installed the manifold and retuned. Small, but there were some gains up top. Am I understanding this correctly? because now we're saying that it hurt performance, so I'm confused lol

you can look at the "stock" graph and tell the car wasnt tuned for shit w/the stock intake

Is there a dyno of a sock car with just an EMS available anywhere? That could help us see a better comparison.

I may be wrong, but I tend to believe that doing single part comparisons don't provide much information. I believe that these sort of parts make better gains when used together and tuned properly, than a single item without other support. Some of this stuff will show losses if untuned/not properly supported. I like looking at the whole picture IMO.
Some parts won't show gains on a stock car even with a tune, but I believe EVERY valid before / after dyno test should include full tunes for BOTH the before and after dyno test.

InlinePro may have installed the AEM EMS on the car, but they didn't do a full tune. If they had done a full tune, the VTEC transition would have been very smooth, and not a big stair step at 6K RPMs. There also wouldn't have been such a big drop in power at redline.

I'm not saying that the IP manifold causes power losses. What I'm saying is that it could have caused losses, for all this test shows. For all we know, this car might have gained even more with a good tune on the stock manifold.
