is it just me or do the runners pair up differently on the newer version of the header and is that how it's supposed to be?

There are several different versions and for different applications.

I see. That's cool. So the one that GT motoring would be offering would be the version that best matches their other options, correct? Would they be able to order the other versions of the header as well?

I believe that there are currently 3 versions that can be ordered that are "standard" offerings...2-step, 3-step long tube (my version) and 3-step long tube race version (has megaphone style end and will not connect to standard exhaust systems)...apparently all try-y.

can we get someone to clarify/elaborate on the race header not fitting standard exhausts? i was planning on mating it to a j's racing 70rr...

Pic in here with OE header vs race version: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=634406

One will need to fab a piece up that will fit between where the header ends and your exhaust begins for the "race" version that has the megaphone style end on it. This is why most of have bought the long tube version with the corresponding test pipe in here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=757369&st=50 the only real difference is the megaphone end vs the TP.

so basically you will need to weld the headers to whatever exhaust your using? and i thought the race version had the longer secondaries.

Not exactly...you would never want to weld any header to an exhaust (unless the engine was solidly mounted) because you need to allow for engine movement. You would need to fabricate a pipe that would fit between the megaphone end of the header and the exhaust.

The secondaries on the race header are the same length as the long tube...the ONLY difference is that the megaphone is welded on the end of the "race" version instead of the removable test pipe on the other. This is why one should buy the long tube version with the corresponding test pipe for most situations.

Neither of these two headers will fit in the OE location WITH the OE cat because the headers are longer than the OE one. The long tube non-megaphone version, when purchased with the corresponding Hytech supplied test pipe (available in selectable sizes of 2.50" (63.5mm) / 2.75" (70mm) / 3.00" (76mm), will bolt directly into the factory exhaust or any standard production aftermarket one.

You would want the long tube header with Hytech's 2.75" test pipe to bolt directly to your J's 70RR with NO welding or fabricating of any kind.
