if you search here you will see a number of stock f22 motors that lost a rod going over 9k rpms.

In my opinion it won't help raising the redline due to the lack of aftermarket cams. The oems loose power that high.

Power has to drop a LOT before you loose the benefit of extra RPM's. I would bet that any stock F20C in good running condition would show a benefit in performance, at least in the lower gears. I just worked out the math on an F22C, and found that torque would have to drop over 40 ft-lbs from peak before you would want to shift from 1st to 2nd with AP2 gearing.

With the rev limiter set to 8800 on my si, i've seen 9050 rpms before.

I lowered it back down to 8600.

It does indeed continue past the set rev limiter.

yea for me I just want to run into the limiter more in some corners instead of having to shift

There have been rumors of a F24 block with the only ones every to be made Comp Cams (of big block fame) in it reving to 10.5k in the works. We will see if this happens next year. The said car already has plenty of power.
With that stroke? 10,500 rpm's ? How long will this last?
And an 2.4l engine pumps 20 percent more air than an AP1 engine. All that at 10,500rpm? With the same valves? The same in- and ex-manifolds? How long must the cams open? For 340 degrees?

What's this poster on Mulder's office? "I want to believe"

Shouldn't you look at the piston speed also, the f20 is at 4965 at 9000 rpm in addition to the dyno.

the first time we dyno'd the 2.7, we ran it to 10,500, but it stopped making power at 8600. I do have supertech valves, ti retainers, and duel springs but i run stock cams, stock ex. manifold. tryin to find an old dyno sheet for ya

Don't you mean to say that power started dropping off after 8600, instead of saying that it "stopped" making power? Just because power starts dropping doesn't mean that the power isn't valuable.
