Default Head gasket

Hey there...i will be opening my engine in a couple of months for 2 reasons..1st valve guides-springs-reteiners...2nd my head gasket is 'bleeding'

so my car is an 2000 jdm model(F20c)..i live in Cyprus and the car came from Japan.. my mechanic told me to raise the compression of my engine for some Hp..but cant find anywhere that says how thick is my JDM head gasket.. could you please help me on this...btw here in Cyprus we have 95oct -98oct -100oct if that helps..

Thank you!

the head gaskets are the same for every f20c.. if you get a thicker one you actually lowwer the compression bc it extends the cylinder boar. if you want highter compression you need longer rods so your stroke is shorter... basically high compression rods, rings, and pistons. there are a few other mods that would help you improve your HP...... exhaust, intake, ecu, ex.... just look around for a bit and see what you can find. there are tons of DIY things to help you improve your cars performance

lol im trying to tell you it doesnt matter they are all the same... you cant go any smaller then the stock... you can buy bigger but you cant get any thinner..... not that it would make a diffrence. the onl way to get higher compression is to do internals.... rods, pistons, rings!!!

The gasket is the same for all f20 engines. If you wanna raise your comp. for about 0.2-0.4 cr youn can get the spoon gasket(0.45mm spoon/0.75mm oem) or the cosworth gasket(0.38mm cosworth). But you are going to use only the 100ron gas.If you have the jdm motor that already has 11.7 cr with a thinner gasket you are close to 12.0 cr or maybe a little higher. You need good gas for that cr.

i have the JDM ap1....so you are saying if i use the cosworth 0.38mm with 98oct i am safe? or should i use the spoon gasket with 98oct?
And will that show me any increace in hp? torque?

If you are all the time near the redline then better 100 ron.Otherwise the 98ron i think it's ok.Both gaskets are good. You will get some gains of course but you need a standalone ecu to optimize your advance and maps.JDM f20c+cosworth gasket(12.1-12.2 cr) is like adding high comp. pistons to a usdm/eudm f20(11.1 cr). With the right tuning you see good difference in power.

Stick with OEM, find other areas to make power. You can thank me later for this piece of advice
