Default Flat Valves vs Dished Valves

I've been trying to find the difference on the two types of Valves (Dished and Flat) and all I can find is a reference that Dished valves are done so to reduce weight.

Thanks in advance.

Flat valves will add compression. That is about as much as I know.

The better way to say it is that dished valves will reduce compression. The stock valves are effectively flat.
