FIPK w/ AUT Plate vs Stock Set-up with K&N filter
#32
I don't doubt that the aut cooling plate may increase the amount of cool air to the filter. What I dispute is the term "forced". If you calculate the volume of air being sucked into the intake, and calculate the velocity of air that would have to be flowing through the auto cooling plate to "force" the air, you would realize that it's just not happening.

well the air is going to be forced into the front of the car depending on the speed of the car. This is not going to creat a real "ram air" effect as a closed box and snorkle might but there will be more "cooler" air for the intake to suck up. So im sure it helps out

If you believe the manufacturer, then you are an idiot. 99% of the time they post a result from a "once in a life time" condition, to get a big performance increase; or they lie through their teeth altogether.

That may be true in some cases, but who is better qualified to provide performance data (albeit biased) then the company that engineered a part in the first place. After all, they possess equipment needed to measure before and after air flow / pressures / temperatures that the average consumer will not have. If anything, publishing better performance data will increase sales of a part. I'm always more interested in upgrades that have extensive documentation such as dyno graphs. I realize a dyno graph may not apply in the case of the AUT plate, but some sort of chart would be appreciated.
Seriously though, I've owned a Honda long enough to never believe their quoted HP/torque increase. 25hp from an intake another 25hp for a header, this is pure BS.,

this was a good post keep it coming.... Would you say it is better just to have a K&N fipk and leave the stock radiator shroud???

^hopefully I can get around to looking at the other data this weekend and then we can see the different temps w/ & w/o the stock radiator shroud.
