Default Brian Crower Stage 3 NA Cams

So I have this on order, expecting it within a few more weeks. I will be posting pictures of the build with titanium retainers and duel valve springs.

One thing I noticed is that BC mentions that aftermarket pistons are mandatory. What I want to know is why; aren't our oem pistons good enough? If anyone could bring light to this, please do! As I feel there is no need.

If the case is that I must, then the build will have to wait until I save up for a stroker kit later on

It could be that the lift is so high that there is valve/piston clearance issues.

Based on testing done by wadzi, the stage3 make less power than the stage2 even with high compression pistons (he was runing over 13:1) unless you have Serious modification.

The stage3 are probably more suited for people who are putting tsx cranks in their f2#c's, have a 9k+ revlimit, and have itbs.

you dont need high compression pistons, but these cams wont work very well with a stock bottom end.

Stage 3 is overkill; Stage 2 is plenty.

they arent overkill... i think they are just wrong.

"bigger" cams work great on stock k20's and such.

thanks for the replies!!

So what I'm getting is, I pretty much should get a stroker kit to get the full potential of these cams? even if my mods are: 4.77 gears, pwjdm intake, 70mm test pipe, 70mm exhaust and t1r headers + aem ems.

Wadzii, why do you believe they are "just wrong?" lol

they just reused their k-series profiles which obviously doesnt work very well.

I dont know if its the lobe centers or profiles that dont work but something doesnt work about these profiles.

wow, i didn't know that at all.
I just checked out your comparison between the two cams and I'm shocked at the results, it was a great write up too lol

I'll be calling BC and switching my order to stage 2. Thanks for the help!!!

Has anyone done any cam testing with adjustable cam gears? Searching for power and not doing this, just seems silly to me.
