Default AUT cooling plate vs Spoon CF snorkel

I have the stock airbox gutted with a K&N filter. I was wondering which you guys rather prefer: AUT cooling plate or the Spoon snorkel.

I have the AUT plate b/c I think it looks nicer. I'm sure the snorkel is also a fine piece!

I have spoon ari cleaner, spoon air duct, and the aluminum cover for all the Airbox...

I had noticed colder air in the intake, mesuring it with an OBD scan...

I think Airduct works better than cooling plate, and if you want you can put on the specific cut cooling plate for airduct...

Don't you need the spoon hood with the bump for the spoon snorkel? The copycat snorkels that use the stock hood are nearly pinched at the point that it curves up under the stock hood. I don't see how you get any airflow through them. I have the AUT cooling plate and the K&N FIPK. I also removed the stock air diverter from in font of the radiator. My REV scanner measures intake temps 15-18 degrees above ambient temperature with my set up.

Wouldn't above ambient air temperature be bad?

Not 15-18 degrees above ambient, that's great for an intake. Engines get hot with those explosions happening and stuff.

I have the FiPK & AUT CF Plate, I agree it looks nicer and cleans up the look under the hood. From a functionality standpoint, I actually think that the snorkle provides a smooth path for the air to travel, and it allows for a dedicated intake path. On the AUT plate, even if you move the oem diverter, if you take a look at the underside of the AUT plate,, there isn't a lot of space between nor is it smooth path of travel. There are several companies that offer a snorkel and a diverter plate that can be used together.

Mutant Cheese,

When you said that your temps were 15-18 degrees above ambient, did you happen to get a measurement prior to the AUT Plate installation?

Well it depends on how you define *better off*. Neither combo is going to give you tons or HP, maybe any at all. As people have said, the snorkel is better for delivering cooler air at the stock intake opening, whereas the AUT plate looks nicer and may help *some*.

You are better off getting the FIPK or comptech intake for the weight savings and small HP increase. I think a combo of the snorkle/FIPK is about as good as you are going to get N/A for intake, unless you can get a Password JDM setup that fits for 1/3 off (aka, don't hold your breath).
