Default Advice on custom intake

So I'm thinking about making a custom cold air intake. Is there any benefit to using piping bigger than 3 inch? Below is a picture of my setup right now. This is just a little project to keep me busy while I'm saving up for a bigger turbo and better manifold. Was previously Greddy turbo so that is why I have the intake pipe with a BOV. Second question is with my setup am I losing power over the stock intake? Piping is 2.75 inch and the plastic duct is 3 inch.

Yes, the BOV is LOL on my NA engine, thats part of the reason why i'm making a intake. I know piping is usually 3 inch but I'm wondering if using 3.5 inch or even 4 inch would make any kind of difference? The AEM v2 uses larger piping taper into a smaller piping so would it be beneficial to run larger piping all the way to the throttle body? Tuning is not a problem as I'm using AEM series 2.

I would just get a 3inch pipe. The aem one has a smaller tube that goes into a larger one.

I will be using aluminum piping. My setup right now was just thrown together with stuff laying around in my garage.

Supposedly the optimal intake diameter is determined by the throttle body diameter, which is determined by plenum volume. But that's probably a little more in depth than you wanted to go.

Are you gonna piece together aluminum pipes or are you able to bend them? Buy them pre-bent? I'm interested on how you are going to go about this since I am trying to do the same.

I was looking into buying some pre bent pipe and cuting it to make the intake. This is the site I was going to buy it from http://www.siliconeintakes.com/index...3e69bf09b9c18f

Now I have another question on the intake design. I read in a another thread that our engines like a longer intake pipe. The way I have the intake routed in the pics, is it long enough? Trying to do this right the first time so I would appreciate anybodys opinion who have experience with this kind of stuff. I'm pretty much 100% certain I'm going to use 3.5 inch pipe unless somebody can give me reason not to. Thanks!
