I'll be able to provide numbers for the following:

1. Baseline stock AP1
2. Throttle body to 3.5" to 3.5" about 18" pipe for each section with one 90* bend. Places filter in the OEM location
3. Throttle body to 3.5" to 4" about 18" pipe for each section with one 90* bend. Places filter in the OEM location

4. If time permits, 3.5" to 3.5" to 4" 18" pipe for each section with two 90* bends, places filter in the fender well - not keen on this as I am in the PNW where it rains. Alot. And it would take a while to get it fitted - may be able to try it with the filter hanging out somewhere

No tuning will be done, but hopefully I make some power!
Cool, look forward to seeing the results!

Too bad you don't have a 6" section right off the TB in a smaller 3" to see what that does with one of these configurations. In theory this should speed up the velocity further right before it enters the manifold, and has shown to produce favorable results.

Yeah there's multiple things I would like to try, including taking the top of the stock box off

Well that's been a proven loss already.

to make this easy to test just run the pipe out the hood without actually going into the fender. Will just save time for testing.

Super quick update. 210whp stock on dyno dynamics. Lost power on all intake combos - top off made same as top on

Did it run lean on the intakes or did you not check that?

Not really - the ratios stayed the same. No tuning. AF was monitored though.

Interesting...I would've thought it had more in it. I think for sure though, top off the air box is a reduction in power. I've felt it. Maybe you had your hood open for that test? With it closed it has no choice to suck up hot air. Sounds great though.

Correct, what makes it lose power is the open filter to the heat of the engine, its quite significant. Typically you dyno with the hood open and fan directed on the engine, so it isn't real world for a test such as that. It removes the heat soaking variable.

Now if you have a working snorkel to get focused direct air from outside up into the radiator plate to the filter, it can work, but not with the stock rad plate in place. Your still going to have trouble in stop and go traffic regardless where moving airflow is minimal. That's where the bumper/fender relocation of the open filter addresses all of it, but then your dealing with other compromises such as being a pain in the ass to service the filter and potential damage/water contamination.

There was a bump in power for about 800 rpm in the midrange with the stepped intake. This is probably better suited for cars which you can tune or with supporting mods. If anyone’s interested in my kit...pics of dyno coming just haven’t had time
