fenix, i'm not trying to hate, but it seems you have a LOT of research to do on your car and what's possible with it before you go along with any sort of serious modding. i am running 2.4L build w Hondata Kpro. it is a +$6K build. make sure you know what kind of power you want before you do something like this. make sure you have another car to drive while your motor is taking a month+ to get built. i am running mugen intake and mugen exhaust as my mods. running a base tune and can't rev over 5k because i didn't have money to pay for the tune. this motor is bad ass. just know that it's what you want before you do it.

this 6k price tag cant be just parts and machine work... anyway you can pm me a little breakdown... i have been looking into this build and so far my price is a bit lower... I plan to do most the assembly and install myself but still cant figure out the 6k+ unless im ignoring something big

you should have some horsepower goals in mind, thats a start as to how far you would need to take your build, and how much money your gonna need to spend. If everything is done correctly reliability is generally not an issue. The full tune-ability of the AEM EMS is definitely something to consider in my opinion, expensive but worth it. As far as the cams go, I have not changed anything like the cam trigger. If you sleeve the block like you should you can go up to a 90mm bore, im at 89 so there is room for repair if ever needed. Piston selection and design are important, I prefer CP with the X-forge and short skirts and super tough wrist pins. You might want to call around to some of the nationally well known shops that track prove their methods and have good records of experience to lead you in the right direction.

Hope this helps, good luck with your project.....

hey i'm guessing that fenix was in my position. i don't know how to put a motor together and i don't know where to get a discount on a dyno. i was being realistic when i said it was $6k. It could probably be more. the parts alone were around $2000. bare engine block, h22a type-s pistons and rods, complete f20c head, k24 crank. machine work ALONE was like $500(notched rods to fit the crank), putting the motor together was like $800-1000. k20 ecu was 200. hondata was 1800 plus another 250 in parts for s2000 conversion. i got a discount on engine labor so it was only 600 in 600 out. then you have to tow the car and pay for tuning. i towed my car 3 times before i got it running. see how much money a build can really cost you? just make sure you are in it for the long run.

Chaps,

I built a 2.4L as per this thread

Aussie F24C build

The motor has approx 500km on it. My racing category has limited the F20C powered cars to stock motors. I built the 2.4L for a once off non-championship race meeting.

I was looking to partially pull the motor down to put in cams, valves and fit ITB's in preparation for the same race meeting next year.

I'd be happy to let it go and build another motor up from the ground up if someone wants this one as is.

I can provide an AEM program ready to run for RCtech 550cc injectors. Presently its setup for dry sump but I can convert back to wet sump as part of the deal.

Its got aftermarket rods and Mahle pistons rather than reworked stock H22 parts.

PM me if you are interested.

Chris.

We've found the Hondata system to be more dependable than the AEM on these larger-displacement NA engines that have high cylinder pressure running marginable octane gas.
