I just put a 60mm test pipe on my stock 03 and it sounds exactly the same. Really. It seems to run better though. I am getting a CEL, so am looking into stacking a couple defoulers onto the O2 sensor.

I have an 08 and have read that 06+ can be a little more temper mental when running a test pipe. Anything particular to be concerned with or am i safe running a simulator?

The gains from a test pipe just aren't signficant enough to justify the cons unless you can tune for lower VTEC. Since you have an '06+, that means that you really shouldn't get a test pipe unless you plan to get a FlashPro. If you get a flashpro, then you can simply disable the secondary O2 sensor, which is the easiest CEL fix ever.

Thanks I guess I'll pass on the test pipe for now then.

I had to use that gasket. The old one didn't seem to match up, was short.

Are there any test pipes out there that have some kind of heat shield or something that can make it look more like a cat so if a cop looks down there he wouldn't be able to tell easily?
100 for a test pipe or 250 for a high flow cat. i'd rather spend double and get a ticket for a modified cat than a no cat ticket. the flow difference/performance difference is like a 1 whp difference...
umm that is simply incorrect, there is a significant performance difference between these if paired with an exhaust.

also, I donno about where you live, but in canada ive never met a cop that would 1-check to see if there is a cat, or 2 know the small dimensional difference between a high flow cat and a stock one...

There are fully certified mechanics that are police. But they often do road side checks to the vehicles that look suspicious, and damaged to the point of being unsafe. You live here in the same city as me, all I can recommend to you is stay away from Kennedy Commons meets and those types of meets. The law enforcement has been known to bring emission testing machines and block off the parking lot, you will get f@#ked if they pull that stunt. They did it at Woodbine and 16, they did it in Kitchener, never know when it will be done again sadly

^FWIW, I've heard of cops crawling on their hands and knees checking out cars in Richmond, BC.

Stuff like that can be fought in court though, if the police officer isnt a certified mechanic. That is what I have always heard anyways. The police cars have to be fixed by someone, they do it in house, so they do have mechanics on the force.
