If the inside of the OEM cat was TOTALLY gutted, with no remaining material inside, then I don't think it would create any negative turbulance. It would just be an expansion chamber (resonator) with very smooth conical entry and exit..

You shouldn't that creates more harm than good cause of the turbulence created by the conical diameter in the cat.

Edit.just remember to buy extra anti-foulers so you don't get the CEL if you have an 06+.
