Bummer. Our DRLs run on ~30% of hi-beams, right? Without knowing much about circuits, could the currents be an issue?

the issue is that the led's are low voltage, your gonna have to add a resistor to make it work.

Yeah, that's what I figured
I am not going to cut up my wiring for some stupid lights though
as I want to easily return my car to stock if need be

oh well, $9 bucks down the drain no big deal

Did u also try flippin them around and pluggin in the bulb. Cuz it affects the polarity. They only light up if plugged up a certain way but i also think u do need the resistor for it but just a thought
