Angry Wheel Spacer H&R

Hello all,

I bought 2 sets (front and rear) of 20mm H&R wheel spacers for my AP1.
I installed it this weekend. I cleaned the surfaces and put the correct torque on the nuts..
When I went for the test drive I felt a very small vibration at 170Km/h. And it start icrease after 200Km/h. It is not horrible vibration.. But it exists..
I thoght these kind of spacers will not give me this kind of probelms..

I took out the rear wheel spacers and the vibration dissapear.. I put them again (switching the sides) and the vibration appears again..

I am not sure what is the problem..

1 - Spacers have a problem (bad equilibrate)???
2 - Withe wheel spacer.. The effort is bigger and it need a driveshaft spacer (it has spoon springs)????

What do you think about this??

Thanks in advance,
Pedro Maia

are the spacers hubcentric??

try torquing the lugs in a star pattern while centering the wheel on the hub the best you can...

Yes they are hubcentric
and I tried to center while torquing the lugs in a pattern star..
The lugs also have a design that helps doing that wwhile torquing..

check to see if the spacers weigh the same, same diameter and depth...

the vibration your exhibiting is the same one that happens at 70-80mph caused by wear in the rear axle cups, swap the cups and see... more info click here

good luck!!

But.. if exists wear in the rear axle cups, it should have vibration with or without the spacers..
Right??

true that... do this: weigh the spacers and check ur tire pressure then post back. lets see, maybe somebody else can chime in and give their thoughts...

There wouldn't be need for an alignment would there as it is simply moving the wheel further away from the chassis. At 70-80mph the problem would have to be slight to cause that kind of vibration...

Take them off and put your wheels on and go for a drive... if it still vibrates then there's something wrong... if not then it's obviously the spacers.

Can the spacers be put on the wrong way maybe? or not seating correctly, maybe slightly warped (but tightening would eliminate that i would of thought)

Had a quick searchy on ebay...

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.p...light=10mm+15mm

just read the first post in the thread... quite informative!

But i am still not sure on the alignment issue... i pretty positive that you don't have to... but someone verifying this would be ideal... don't want you spending money on something that it is pointless!!
