Vtec cam upgrade question
Looking for a single Vtec cam of moderate duration and lift to use with stock F20 for power increase, there can't be any clearance issues as stock pistons would be used. Stock valvetrain would be a bonus too, but not a requirement. I want to keep the primary cam in place for good fuel economy, and don't want to mess with emission testing, I also figure one cam cost less then two. Does anyone know of a manufacture that makes this Vtec cam upgrade for my application?

I'm a bit surprised and disappointed that there isn't a good cam at this point. I'm approaching the 230ish whp max N/A power and looking for some other reasonable cost effective ways to continue my improvements, been pretty lucky so far with my cost vs hp choices. Cams seem like the next thing to look into at this point.
Am I off for thinking that someone should be able to produce a replacement Vtec cam for an N/A application that produces 10%-15% more power without to much trouble, And at $400-500 bucks? Considering that I'm seeing two cams go for about a grand. I don't see going with two cams as a cost effective or sensible street or race application, especially when looking at where our car likes to make power in the rpm range. I heard the Toda Bspec makes a good kick in power at 5000rpm to redline and runs like total shit under this because it replaces the primary cam with essentially two of the same Vtec cams. Why? Just for the sake of maintaining oil pressure more consistently? Is it that important to sacrifice such performance in drivability below such a vast rpm of 5000?
Could a hybrid set up work well? For example, use just one of the Toda cams or something like this for the Vtec replacement only?

Honda engineers got the cams right the first time. they are perfectly made for many applications. NA, TC, SC, the cams work well with all of them. 230whp na is a feat in itself. Good work, trying to pull 250whp without changing the bore or stroke is gonna be tough.

^ at which point you might as well have saved yourself a lot of $$$ and gotten a lower final drive instead (i won't mention FI as this post is about NA ... oops )
