(Just so there's no confusion ... lower gear ratios are higher numerically, and vice versa)

Besides going to a machine shop and having a set made, is there any way to change up the gear ratios in the transmission?

I've heard of ... I think it was RSX owners who would swap in an ITR ratio set, b/c it had lower 1-5 gears and a higher 6th gear ... which is what I want on my S2000. That would allow faster acceleration (lower gear ratios) while giving increased gas mileage (better for sure in 6th gear -- who passes in 6th anyway?) on the highway and around town, since you could just cruise one gear higher.

Any solutions for the S?

Look into an AP2 tranny. Much better than an AP1 tranny. 1-4 are shorter and 5-6 are a bit longer for highway cruising. The AP2 tranny also shifts alot more smoother and has carbon synchros.

actually 1 to 4 are the same ratios in the box 5th and 6th are different.

If you order a new set of ap1 synchros you get the cf ones from honda for both trannys.

The difference in the tranny's is the reduction gear is shorter in an ap2. That gear affects all of the others.

Lots of threads on this. Do a search. cheapest way is to replace with an ap2.

Yeah, I think I either failed to adequately explain my goal or it was misinterpreted.

I do not want a shorter reduction gear or a longer 5th gear. I want shorter individual 1-5 gears with a longer 6th gear. Basically a setup that can be used effectively on any track (through 5th gear) but still has a longer 6th gear (which I wouldn't get into on a track) for gas mileage.

5TH comes out shorter with the reduction but 6th comes out longer. I don't know if the gears are interchangable

So what your saying is the ap2 tranny doesnt have a limited slip in it at all?

RWD transmissions don't have differentials in them. No RWD transmission has a limited slip.
