Timing chain kit? Not sure what you mean by this. Are you having your timing chain replaced? Whats the reason for replacement?

To be honest I cant remember seeing any timing chain failures. If there have been any it is surely a rare occurrence. I think your money could be better spent elsewhere.

+1. You don't need to replace your timing chain.

When you eventually get a ticking noise it indicates your timing chain tensioner needs to be replaced. But its a 15 min diy to replace it.

But unless your car is making a noise already, you are fine.

yea the chain is good. my s2k is at 193,000 miles with no chain issues. But the timing chain tensioner are known to go bad and make a rattling noise.

It's a chain not a belt so no need to replace.

If it starts making noise getting the upgrade timing chain tensioner from billman.

Chains are really intended to last the entire life of the engine. Unless you're car is highly modified, I would not change it.
