hi guys, this is my first post regarding a mod so please bare with me. i am looking for a test pipe and constantly finding two different sizes. what are the difference between the two. what i want to know is which size should i go for as my car is completely stock.

second question is to the uk lot. where is the best place to get one from and which manufacture is best?

Hi Steve. Your best bet for test pipe size is to match it with that of your exhaust piping size. I wanna say 60mm is stock piping size for the exhaust but I'm not COMPLETELY sure. Hopefully someone will verify or correct me. If you plan on changing your exhaust sometime in the future, odds are it will be larger piping so you may need to get another test pipe to match that size or you will create a not so nice bottleneck.

Hopefully someone chimes in about the manufacturer since I'm pretty new to this stuff too. Good luck!

yes i do intend on getting a cat back system so is it worth going for the larger size from the start.

60mm with the stock Exhaust( really improves the car in the stock form). Always use the same diameter piping.

As far as upgrading the exhaust later down the road. It really depends on how long it takes you to get a catback. In my modding I bought a 60mm for the stock exhaust and really didnt have any intention on getting an exhuast. Then the bug bit me, I soon ordered an exhuast and needed a 70mm test pipe. I then sold my 60mm test pipe in 25 minutes of it being posted on this site.

My point: If your not going to get a cat back soon, get a 60mm then sell it IF the exhaust you get is 70mm. If you happen to pick up and exhuast that is 60mm then your already ahead of the game.

As far as a manufact. goes a tp is generally a tp. Just make sure to use a Defouler method of eliminating a CEL. Or you can buy one of these...

if you have stock exhaust, its 60mm but you can get a 70mm and put it on for now and get a matching 70mm exhaust later on. main problem i heard is it causes back pressure. it shouldnt really be a big problem. the stock cat is around 85mm at the largest part if im not right

Isn't piping measured on the outside? I wonder what a typical 60mm test-pipe would be on the inside.
