T1R 70R-EM Exhaust Installed
Hi everyone. I purchased the T1R 70R-EM exhaust last week and received it via UPS yesterday. I went out to a shop and got it installed right after I got it. The exhaust is really light as advertised. I purchased the car used with a Neuspeed Dual Catback Exhaust and I was really anxious to get rid of it. To me, the Neuspeed Exhaust was a really poor system because it DRONED really bad on the freeway. I would just cruise along anywhere from 65-75 and all i would hear is drone. The exhaust also felt really restrictive. The noise that it created in the cabin while driving top up was unbearable.
I decided to go with the single outlet system for power gains and weight reductions, plus I read that the T1R system didn't drone, which was something I really wanted. The install went by without any problems. The only thing I noticed after the install was that the cabin smelled a lot like gas fumes when I first drove with the new exhaust. After driving for about 100 miles, that smell has gone away. It was probably just the new exhaust system breaking in.
With the new T1R exhaust, I feel like there was been a noticeable power increase. The power delivery now is much smoother as is the transition into VTEC. It feels like the car has more power throughout the entire rev range. With the Neuspeed before, there felt like there was a slight hesitation in lower RPMs, but that has gone away with the T1R. Personally, the car feels a lot faster with the new T1R exhaust.
On the freeway, if I cruise at a constant speed, there is little to no drone at all. It is MUCH quieter than the Neuspeed, however, if I am in the 3-4k RPM range and i give it some gas, you can hear drone. I think this may be normal with most exhausts though? Im not sure since I never had an OEM exhaust on my car. As long as I stay at a constant speed, I don't hear the exhaust drone. At low RPM's, the exhaust gives out a low tone that sounds really nice.
Here are 2 videos. The first one is of the old Neuspeed exhaust and the second one is of the new T1R 70R-EM exhaust. More videos of the T1R will be posted soon. Any comments are welcome.
