there is nothing detrimental from running slotted rotors on the street, but its pretty much pure aesthetic with exception of possibly the slits wiping the pad clean.
i like the powerslot rotors because the depth of the groove is the recommended thickness of rotor's life, so when you are starting to have your slits disappear, it's time for a new set.
as for pads, for street just go oems, and i say this even though we have our own brand of street pads but honestly if you will never do anything outside of street braking, no need to upgrade. if you do ever do some autox though, then look at something with a little more bite.

I took my car to Pocono's north circuit with the stock brakes, except for some ATE superblue brake fluid. I was extremely impressed at the amount of power they had, with very little fade as well. I got a ride in jfo's track car as well, he uses stock calipers and it looked like stock rotors as well....not sure on the pad but that thing stops like its hitting a brick wall.

I went with Centric slotted rotors a few years ago and they are still great. I like these over the Powerslots because the Centric slot is not cut all the way to the outer edge of the rotor. Most cracking occurs right at the point where the slot is cut into the outside edge. The Centric rotors stop the slot about a good 1/8" or more from the edge. No cracking after 4 years - and I drive some great mountain roads in east San Diego. These are also cadmium plated to reduce rusting. I hate how the OEM rust and look like hell right after you wash the car......not to mention that loud "snap" as they brake loose from the rotor when the e-brake is engaged. You can also paint the center hats and edges to avoid the rust.
As for caliper paint, I've used the G2 Caliper paint over 25 times and love it. The Duplicolor kit is pretty nice too, although I cannot attest to the longevity. The oldest one I've done is about 1 year old now. Here are a couple pics of the G2 Epoxy kit (3 coats).

Anyone think those options are a good idea??
On the street, just go with whatever looks best to you. Seriously, it won't matter for street use.

My stock pads were gone after my first track day.
