Static Cling Window Tint
Hi Guys,
I got my OEM Style Forbidden USA top installed a few days ago and figured I'd try and tint the rear "lexan/plastic" window with STATIC CLING tint from Pepboys. After researching around the forums, I figured that tinting the outside was the best way to go.
After cleaning the window with Meguires and cutting out the correct shape of film, I managed to tint the window. Initially it was fine, but after a few drives, the tint started to bubble and I had to peel it off. I used soapy dish washer fluid mixed with water and sure enough the film did stick on really fast, but then the results weren't that good.
Just curious if anyone else tinted their windows with static cling tint and HAD THE SAME result? If so, did you end up tinting the window regularly or went ahead and opted to not tint at all.
Please let me know, I'm trying to find a solution, not having tint feels really weird!
Thanks,
Van

I have read nothing but issues with tinting the lexan windows. The only thing people have done is get a window that is pre tinted which I am not sure exists for the oem style top.

just did a quick search and some people used this film that can be purchased at home depot. its pretty inexpensive. like this http://www.homedepot...12#.UZQ_wso_-co
also, maybe using vht tint spray might be a solution as well. http://houstonmiatac...php?topic=904.0
the gila film might be the way to go
maybe the spray isn't the best idea
just some ideas.

Hey thanks guys. I think I'm going to just settle for the time being, but as soon as the Lexan window starts breaking down or gets damaged, I'll find a glass shop to cut a glass window for it. That would be pretty costly though, I've seen a few shops start off around $400-500 for any custom window work. Anyways, it's not the end of the world having tinted windows!
Keep you all posted on that!
