Thumbs up squeaky hardtop

Hi guys, do your mugen frp hardtop makes any kind of squeaky noise over the bumps? I just purchased a mugen frp hardtop, and it's making quite a bit of noise, I tried to apply some white lithiuam grease, but that that did not solve the problem. How do I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Could it be that installation wasnt 100% correct? Maybe trying to remove it and reinstall it would fix the rattle/squeak or whatnot.

I know of such examples here in Greece but for the orinigal HT not the Mugen one.

2 fellas with the Mugen one never had such problems.

Sorry to say, majority of HT owners regardless if its OEM or Mugen, or replicas, they all squeak.. I own a FRP Mugen top, and I've sat in a number of cars with OEM tops too, all squeak.

I've read some where that some people have cut out some fabric to act like a gasket between the hardtop and the mounting brackets because they bolt it on, and this will reduce some squeaks, but not 100%.

I got used to it personally.

You might try applying Shin-Etsu to the gasket surfaces rather than the lithium grease, the other alternative is to replace your soft top strikers.

i have an OEM one and it started squeaking after a few weeks then it went away a month later. Try using shin-etsu seemed to be the most popular solution when i searched about it when i had the problem. i never used it though too lazy

When putting the top on before you secure the strikers, wiggle the hardtop a bit, then secure the strikers. So far this has eliminate all squeaks, anyone who owns a hardtop should be using some sort of grease, I use Shin-Etsu, it works wonder.

The main reason why hardtops squeak is because of the body flexing. A couple of months ago I was actually informed by a customer of ours that his hardtop squeaked a lot until he put on his J's fender braces. I guess the braces reinforce the fender area well enough that the body does not flex, which in terms makes the hard top not squeak! I thought that was quite interesting.

Go to your local Honda/Acura dealer and pick up some anti-squeak tape and put it on the edges of your top. It solved my prob completely.
