Default Springs or coilovers?

I realize that coilovers would be the ultimate solution but my question is that I am torn between what to get. I am not in the market for expensive coilovers as of yet, so I am looking into lowering springs. If anyone can give me info on lowering springs, what to stay away from, etc. That would be great.

I have 17's on the car, and the last thing I want is rubbing issues or any other sudden surprises that might cost me $$$. As for the coilovers, I really would rather go with that set up but I don't want to cheap out, so I'll be patient and wait and just get springs.

Now another thing is that I have a 00 S2000 with approx. 85000kms still on the stock struts, will I need to change them when I get the new lowering springs or can I get away from it for the time being. THX

85km->50Kmiles
the suspension should fine

i lowered my 2001 1" and felt it really reduced my alignment options on the car. did not make the car look that different. it is a hassle being lower on the streets and my floor jack dosnt fit well. people do this alot but i felt afterwards my bad to spend money this way. what ever i ended up with i dont think the handling is any better and possible worse.

your changes in suspension may reduce the handling of the car

try to stick with a 1" drop, the OEM suspension will crap out quickly if you go more then 1"

other then that enjoy.

Jah does make a good point, there are downside to being lowered, and you should do an alignment after the drop.

Tis very true. What part of canada are you in? I might be able to suggest a shop that can get you a great deal on a set of coil overs.

A alignment is good (yes), although if your slammed, sometimes you want that neg camber to help you tuck. Youll know when your there.

springs arent that expensive under $200, find some on ebay, then start saving for the coilovers, it'll keep you satisfied while you wait.

The thing about running stock shocks w/ lowering springs is that the stock dampers are not meant to absorb/travel on that ride height.
If you go over bumps, sometimes you'll feel the shock bottoming out, thus giving you this bone jarring impact.
I'd recommend getting new shocks as well.

LOL I understand your point.

I believe Skunks drop the ride already 1.5 inches which is already pushing it, you need ever bit of metal possible.
