Soft top question

Soft top question
On my s2k I have a couple holes in my OEM soft top from the previous owner. would I be able to buy a replacement soft top with a plastic back window and replace the back window with the glass that I already own? Or will I run into a lot of problems?

Can you even still buy a top with plastic window. Why would anyone make one?
Wait, you weren't going to buy a new top from dealer, were you? Way better quality and way cheaper to buy aftermarket. No surprise, its not like Honda has much recent experience with soft tops.

I completely forget who made the replacement top for my car (which needs to be replaced again) but the quality of the top was much higher than OEM, and it replaced the factory plastic window with glass which is way better. It was a direct replacement and I replaced it with my father (it was his car at the the time) in a day. I would not recommend a plastic window, they are foggy and scratch in no time, the glass is still perfect and lasted way longer. The top is the only thing on my car that is not OEM and it is way better looking, better quality, and lasted longer than the stock top did.

Check out www.topsonline.com and the Robbins cloth glass window conversion. I promise you you won’t be disappointed.

Regarding the OE tops:
- The '00-'01 plastic-window tops fold differently from the glass-window tops, so the frames and cloth are not interchangeable.
- The plastic window is technically replaceable (zips out, but not not readily - it's a bit of a job). New plastic windows were still available a few years ago via a special-order process involving dealer-pickup, but I'm not sure about now.
- The glass windows are not replaceable, they're a permanent part of the cloth assembly; so if the window breaks, only the frame is salvageable.

OP knowing the model year of your car would be helpful. It sounds like your current top has the glass window is that correct? If so I would replace it with a robbins top (I think there is another brand as well but the name escapes me). Pretty sure there all come with glass windows but if not I would by the same as what is on the car currently.
If you currently have the plastic window I would still look into getting a replacement with a glass window. I feel like I have seen other do this without having to swap anything but the top out but having never done it myself I cannot be sure.
