Default Small problem

i recently installed an ap2 center console into my 2003 removal and install were extremely easy just a tug on some clips and a quick disconnect on my switches.

Now the problem im having is both buttons are receiving power constantly because their lit up. But for some reason ill put my top down drive around park my car go to put my top up and the button wont work??? I'll pull 2 clips up on the center console on the elbow end of it and hit the button and it works. Re clip the console back down and the top will work fine up and down until i drive around and then try putting it back up again??

I pulled it all back off again checked the wire and everything the connection to the button is firm its not even slightly loose and the wires are 100% fine i don't see anything wrong at all.

Put it all back together it works fine , drive around and try putting it back up it wont work unless i pull the back 2 clips up then hit it?

Does anyone know what the hell this could be? before i go buying a new button or anything has anyone had a similar problem at all?

Hi Booztin,

The electric top has a safety device that will NOT allow it to work unless the E-brake is applied. This may be an area you may want to look at for the remedy.

Cheers, Don

HUH... I think you are pinching off the flow of electricity to the wire...

On a serious note make sure nothing is getting in the way of the Ebrake position sensor that could be giving you some grief until you pick up on the console top and it moves out of the way.

you guys are right ,i looked at it all again and took the dual cup holder out and snapped the console on and it definitely rubs on the e brake button so with that said i need to do the top down mod so that my top going up or down doesn't rely on the position of that button or my e brake.

ok i found a write up but i dont fully understand it . With my problem of the console rubbing that button im almost positive that moding the speed sensor wont solve my problem and that i have to do the ebrake mod with that said the write up states
"Grounding the green/white wire will cause the 'BRAKE' light on your gauge cluster to come on" does that mean it will be on all the time? I dont want my ebrake light to be on all the time lol.

You need to cut the black and white wire.
