Arrow Skunk 2 Stage 2 Cams dyno

Alright, I know that skunk cams have been bashed by many and given a thumbs up by some. Had a valve train to install so I decided to take the plunge on a set of Stage 2's that I had sitting around the garage.

The car: '07 AP2, 65,000 miles
Additional relevant mods in this equation: Spoon header, ARC intake, 4-bar MAP, AEM UEGO, Hondata Flashpro, Fujitsubo Legalis exhaust
Previous dyno without Flashpro and cams the car put down 218 whp, 149 tq (cannot find the dyno sheet for this run, but it's pretty standard AP2 numbers)

The hopes were that the cams would work with the above mods and help them flow a little better. The car was put on the dyno at Innovative Tuning on a Mustang dyno in Buffalo NY for the tune and I'm fairly happy with the numbers - 240 whp and 160 tq. The dyno from the last two runs with Vtec at 5300, redline at 8200 (black dashed lines) and final timing/fuel adjustments and redline at 8800 (red lines). The dyno plot can be found below. Overall, I really like the feel of them especially in the lower and mid-range...and of course they sing at Vtec and above. The one thing that I am not exceptionally thrilled with is the additional valve train clatter that has resulted from having dual valve springs and the much larger lobed Skunk cams. I'll let them break in a bit and then do a valve adjustment to see if I can work this out. I'm sure I'll get flamed for trying out things that independently haven't worked for some, but I'm happy with the build and how things came together with just a little more air.

If only there were an easy way to insert images like every other forum on the internet.....

What happened to the 30hp/20trq between 4800-6100rpm Should be a near linear line. Do these cams sacrifice that much mid range for peak? Or is this a tuning shortcoming?

The tuner pushed vtec, fuel and timing all around from 3500 up to 5800 rpms and that dip followed shortly after vtec at wot wherever it was pushed. From the many dozens of other dyno charts I've seen on the site it seems that there is a pretty consistent dip after vtec and this dip is certainly much more pronounced. The transition from low to high cam lobes is incredibly noticeable on these so that might be an explanation, but its really unclear as we were just interested to see what the upper end of the spectrum might be power-wise this time around.

There were also some annoying issues with the flashpro live tuning in the newest beta version of the software manager and 8+hrs of tuning really hit my limit for the weekend.

Sorry but that dip is not suppose to be there after a tune, this plot looks incomplete...use a different tuner
