Shift knob glued, replacing lever

Shift knob glued, replacing lever
So I bought a Blox 490 shift knob and I find that the previous owner replaced the locking nut with some thick white glue. There are also some dents in the lever where it meets the boot. Another or the same person tried to remove the knob before with vice grips. So I have decided to replace the lever entirely.
Things I need:
Shift lever
locking nut
Shift boot
Should I replace any other parts now? Other parts around the lever? Do I need to use new grease? Thank you.

Based in how extensive the damage is you will want to have the following on hand so you can complete the replacement lever install.
1. Plastic ring that has 4 clips that keeps the shift boot in place (clips can break if you don9t follow directions on how to remove it).
2. Foam insulation (if it9s not in good shape or installed once you remove the shift boot. It helps insulate you from mechanical sounds).
3. Plastic shift collar (you will not be able to salvage this at the bottom of the shift lever once you install your new lever. Cheap to purchase).
4. Urea Grease (take the time to clean up the area and reapply it to the bottom of the shift lever replacement and anywhere there is metal to metal contact).
5. Obviously your new shift knob or boot if they9re damaged. Also a locking nut unless you get a countersunk shift knob.
Take a look at this post. Hope that helps.

Wow...I wasn't the only one with that issue. You'll need new grease and also plan ahead to soak the plastic shift cover in hot water for 15-30 minutes before hand so you can pop it onto the shift housing. That was probably the biggest pita.
