The newer ones come with rain guards, when i bought mine it came with it, and i made sure that it did.. but after a little testing and a little praying, i took the rain guards off.. the car is a DD and i just went through hurricane ike a couple weeks ago or whenever it was and it was fine, i even have a kn FIPK, and the 2nd from the bottom vent is right over the filter, but zero problems so far. I did notice when washing the car, if you spray the hood at the top and try to make the water run down into the vents, the water either catches the sides of the vents, runs down harmless, or misses the vents completley, i tried multiple ways to get water to go directly into the vents (without spraying into them directly) and i failed.. zero water problems so far
