i'd get the s2k first and then add the top later. i'm sure the dealership can get if for you and install it easily if your goal was to have the hardtop included in the financing.

Have you ever had a convertible before? Top down driving is addicting. I would wait to see If you liked it before shelling out the extra money.

No one can tell you if its worth it to you (regardless of what you're asking about). If you want it, get it. If you don't, don't. Worth is subjective. Unless you're preferences, budget, etc are totally in line with another person then why do you need the input of others?

Are you concerned with fit? Hassle of removing/installing the top? If you have specfic question about it then ask them.

that would be plain stupid - they would overcharge the hell out of you.

There are others like the Spoon and Mugen HT's that will probably be a little cheaper but yea in general the dealership will overcharge on the top and then charge like 50 to 100 an hour to remove the soft top and install the HT, if you really want a OEM HT, check on forums like hardtopguy and even people here that want to sell them, because I will assure you they will be cheaper.

Suprisingly, many dealers will tell you that the HT is unavailable for order or agree to order one for you then a few days later inform you that the HT is no longer available. HTG and a few other dealers seem to be able to get them, so it's hard to tell whats going on. The two dealers that have posted in group buys in the past are Majestic and Honda of Flagstaff. Of course there could be more and there probably are, but be prepared to be tolerant every time you hear the words " we don't carry-we can't order-no longer made" etc.

Most of the posters have it correct here.

Number one, you generally do not want to get a hardtop from the dealer, even if you are financing it into your loan. They will either charge you the MSRP of $3499, or I have even seen dealer prices hovering near $5K for an OEM top. Second, most, if not all dealers will tell you that the top is discontinued.

I would recommend purchasing the S2000 car first and deciding what you want. A hardtop isn't something you want to be taking on/off on a daily basis. Sure it's easy, but it's not THAT easy and you need 2 people. Plus, you need a place to store it.

You can find new ones for under $3K and used ones between $1800-3000. You'll have to decide yourself if that is worth it to you.
