S2000 Seat Manufacturer

If Recaro was hired to design these seats they must not have been paid very much, they lack many of the nice design features that Recaro are famous for. I might believe the comment about the 3rd gen Prelude seats, they were some of the best Honda seats I've ever owned, very nice seats.

design features add weight, weight kills performance.
I find the S2000 seats quite luxurious compared to the seats I had for 34 years before that. Yeah, had my first car 34 years and it was a FIAT, going to see if I can beat that with the S2000.
The S2000 seats are absolutely perfect !

my previous car was a camaro. the seats on it were oh so comfy....but not so grippy like the S. I just wish they made ALL s2000 seats suede/alcantra instead of leather.

I like the seats for short drives (like my 45 min commute) and spirited driving, but on my first long drive with my 06 (my 02 never gave me issues) the seats actually caused me to get (or they at least hurried it up) sciatica. We drove from Philly to Killington VT (~6.5hrs) and I was in terrible pain for a few days, but I kept driving all around VT because it was just too much fun not to!

You know, there was never anything officially stating that the seats were Recaros. It's a little bit of a legend, but I haven't seen it in anything but the popular press.
Anyway I did a search of my own S2000 media archives and found just one item of Honda S2000 literature citing Recaro seats: a 6-page brochure from 2002 by Honda Motor Europe for the French market. It's in French of course, but it does state in both the descriptive text and in a "standard features" list that the car has sièges baquets “RECARO” ("RECARO" bucket seats). Note that the capital letters and quotes are used in both instances in the brochure.
So does that qualify as confirmation from Honda? I tend to think not, but hey it's something. It's possible that some sort of licensing arrangement forbade Honda from explicitly including the Recaro logo or mentioning it in its literature, even if the seats were made (or designed) by Recaro. Or maybe Honda didn't want any non-Honda logos in the car. Who knows what sort of branding/licensing agreements get negotiated over these things. Whatever the case, Honda clearly never made a big deal about the specific brand of seat in the car; in fact a 2002 U.S. dealer-info kit made no mention of Recaro despite including a photo and several sentences specifically about the seats.
You can find the French brochure at DarrenDriven's S2000 media site:
