bump for the berk high flow cat. extremely well made product. make exhaust sound a little more aggressive, and it is way cheaper than a stock cat and 49 state legal, supposed to be able to pass smog check and no test pipe smell. i am running this and there is nothing wrong with my cat. oh yeah it also is lighter than the stock cat. makes more pwr and definatly helps with droning on aftermarket exhaust systems.

I had a rattling Cat - thought it was breaking up inside - upon inspection - this is what was causing the rattle - the tip of the 02 sensor had broken off - sensor didn't throw a code .... replaced sensor at same time I swapped cat for Berk TP...

I have Berk HFC on MY01.. love it. no issues. Fits great and mates well with my PLM headers and Spec Elite Exhaust.
It was fairly inexpensive too, better than buying a new OEM one...

Performance CAT's tend to use a metal substrate instead of Ceramic like oe ones from most Automotive manufacturers. Metal Substrate CAT's cost more to produce and in most cases are actually more efficient then their ceramic counterparts. The metal substrate in also far less susceptible to damage from either impact or contamination from oil & fuel etc and will stand up to far higher running temperatures etc.
I have used Blackthorn Autocatalysts (http://www.blackthorn.eu.com/default.aspx) as they are top quality for years for my supplies but most aftermarket Exhaust manufacturers will be able to supply you with one. I've seen the test results of a std S2k fitted with a stright through pipe and (this is obviously age dependant to emissions allowance) passed it's MOT no problem. I would therefore say you would have no problem using a 100 cpsi substrate.
In short "Performance" metal substrate CAT's are far superior to their ceramic mass production & oe counterparts.
