Or is it just the rx8 gear that will?

Nope, the RX-8 gear will not. Only the RX-7 and Miata (short pinion) gear will work.

Would be so awesome if the RX8 gear worked. But it's too small if I remember correctly.

Dang alright lol had a friend selling one for cheap. I'm looking for a 4.44 or possibly 4.57.

I had read here that the 4.44 in the RX-7 and Miata were the same part, is that not accurate?

That is true. The RX-7 and Miata share the same gears.

How cheap? 4.77 and 4.44 can be cheap too. There was a group buy for 4.44 and HTG had 4.77 for a decent price.

I believe you can purchase the 4.44 directly from Mazda for a decent price, I wanna say $700ish?
