I picked up some road debris in my driver's side front pad a couple years ago that started causing a large gouge, and have to have the rotor turned to allow the pad to grip the entire surface area again.

But yeah, so far my stock pads and rotors are at 54k miles and there is still about half of my pad life left, so I don't think I'll have to look into replacing them any time soon.

Oh, but while on the subject of brakes -- I recently swapped out the stock fluid for Project Mu's G-four brake fluid ... very nice. The boiling point is 335C dry, 221C wet; unless my brakes catch fire, I will not boil the fluid. Plus, it's a cool bluish-green color, and my mechanic who helped me do the flush thinks it smells like raspberries
