Thats why I said "almost" V8 sound.

I tried playing devils advocate and imagined that the extra power was all in my head; but the pull at 3-4k rpm

wait until you add a test pipe or high flow cat. that's when the hks *really* sounds awesome.

Test pipe definitely NOT legal in CA. We're fussy about touching any emissions controls. Anything like that needs a C.A.R.B. executve order (EO) number proving it has been emissions tested and accepted by the state. In case you didn't know, a test pipe will allow your car to spew much more toxic gas and unburned fuel into the air.
