Ram air for CT- Engineering intake
So after deciding to pass on a snorkel intake I’ve decided that I’m going to purchase a CT Engineering/Comptech intake within the next couple weeks. However I Still wanted some ram air effect, after reading the intake thread on 8th gen civic forum with my cousin I got some ideas , and after searching s2ki I found a similar idea (I’ll post both links below). So I now have a general idea of what I would like to do when I get the ct engineering intake but I do have some questions that I was hoping some people could help me by answering. Essentially I would like to place a brake duct where most snorkels sit and run tubing up into the intake box (think this might be a good idea for people running the K and N intake too). The first pic of mine, shows ideally where I would want place this brake duct (I know my license plate looks on a slant but that just do to my poor camera skills). On the s2ki thread where someone did something similar he attached a funnel with vacuum tubing to the stock grill, since I would like to use a brake duct I’m wondering if anyone is aware of anything that I could secure it to? (Not too sure since I have not taken the front bumper off yet). The second questions is on the civic forum the individuals used a heat resistant tubing, I would assume that in his case it would be necessary since the tubing flowed through the engine bay to his intake box, thus in my situation I would not need the more expensive heat resistant tubing. Is this correct? The second and third pic of mine, illustrate where the tubing would run into the ct air box. I’ll post images of the brake ducts I’m considering the tubing. Definitely open to any other ideas or opinions, so let me know what you think. Thanks.

For those wondering I currently have the prm intake and have Injen hydro shied since I vented my oem hood, it definitely made me feel safer)

it kind of is already a fresh air box. see the openings where the cover dips down for the hood prop holder thing. see how it mounts to the side of the end of the radiator, if you check out that area, you will see a gap between the radiator and the body allowing air to pass thru.

That looks like a lot of cutting and some additional tweaks to make it look natural and clean.
If I were you, i would cut out the slip to the left of where you circled and use that as an inlet for the brake duct.

I was hoping to avoid cutting that slip out, unless its substaintially easier to do so.

So why exactly are you wanting to run a ram air duct? An air duct like that would only benifit if your going like 40mph and over. Even then, your not going to see any noticible gains with a duct on the comptech intake. If your wanting something like that you should get a K&N FIPK and get an AUT cooling plate. That seems to be a common but effective intake setup for our cars.

I've also contemplated doing something similar to this with my K&N, except I was thinking about cutting the front of the k&n to fit a snorkel; however this thread has proposed a new idea to me.
This isn't the final Idea, but I'm exhausted and it's the only way that makes sense to explain it in my head right now, and building off your idea. What if you were to say incapsulate the filter with a oil funnel, cut the end so it fits flush with the filter and then connect the end of it with say a samco hose which I believe would produce a better/smoother/possibly cooler airflow than the home depot type hose you're running. Also it would seem by encapsulating the filter would would pull in less random pollutants and help remove excess engine heatsoak.
Any thoughts?

Idk, I had the RM Racing intake in the past. It had a filter in the middle and had another opening on the end of the filter, which another pipe connected to. That pipe connected to a duct very similar to the one the OP posted. I switched to the OEM airbox gutted and insulated and a K&N drop in filter and I feel no difference between them whatsoever. (except that the airbox has less heatsoak sitting still) I honestly think doing this on that CT Engineering intake will make no difference at all. It's really not worth the effort, time, and money it will cost you for almost no difference at all. Here is what my RM racing intake looked like on my car. I sold it on here a while back though. Just my opinion.
