Default Question about soft top replacement...

Ok, so I need to replace my soft top on my MY00 I hate the plastic rear window and want glass. But, I do not feel like spending almost $800 through hardtopguy.com for everything, it think that is over priced. I want to know if I buy the glass top from Topsonline.com and then the kit from hardtopguy.com to modify my frame for the glass top, would that work?

Also, for the option on hardtopguy.com for the pre vin# 5730. How do I read the vin number for that?

Topsonline already offers 2001 soft tops with glass rear windows, so no need to check out the ones from 2002+. They also sell the defroster separately if you decide to purchase the top with a defroster.

But, it is the glass rear window that is like half the size of the plastic window right?

Also, will it fold up without a problem?

From what I can tell, it is somewhat smaller and that is because it has to fit when it folds up.

The glass is about the same size as the OEM 2002+ soft tops.

Glass tops do not fold down as far as plastic rear tops. they are a little stiffer to fold due to the glass. i've done 4 tops so far and notice that about them compared to a plastic window.
